Goodbye trackback spam?

If you don’t mind disabling pings to all of your older posts to stop this string of trackback spam, read on.

I’m not moderating anymore, because this is the workaround without having to moderate all comments. It requires the ability to log into phpMyAdmin. In your database, run this SQL query. (I removed the code because copying and pasting from here wasn’t working, but it is from that post – so I didn’t want anyone to get messed up.)

None of my older posts are getting trackback spam, and pinging is disabled for the meantime. Thanks to O.F. Jay for the help! Regular commenting should be back to normal.

Edit: Ping_status and post_date weren’t enclosed in single quotes, so I changed that. Sorry to those who were having problems in running that SQL query, that was my fault.

Edit 2: Thanks Jay, I fixed that. Man, I hope I didn’t mess too many people up – but I have a feeling I did. *sigh* Live and learn…to cut and paste. ๐Ÿ™‚
