Lately, I’ve been called to clean out a few systems, from spyware, viruses (virii), internal dust, etc. Luckily, the majority of them has access to a broadband connection. What about the times where there isn’t a broadband connection?
I use a guide that goes through the steps on how to remove spyware. One requirement is that you need to be able to run an online virus scan. Even though I have a router at home, another friend had borrowed my network cable – so I couldn’t do that.
I have a rewritable CD of the programs I’m supposed to download from the guide above. But I need an alternative to a full blown antivirus scanner, perhaps that could be bootable to CD. At least, in the rare case where I don’t have Internet access like this.
It’s kind of frustrating right now. I’m doing the best I can with it, using what I have. However, the system is already about 5 years old, so they’re going to end up getting a new system through me.
