Trackback spam again?

Another update: Pings are open. MtDewVirus’ Trackback and Pingback Moderation plugins are now activated, since he said 1.2 should be supported after modifying one line in my wp-includes/functions.php file. We’ll see how it goes.

Update: More are getting through, so pings are closed again.

One trackback spam got through 20 minutes ago, so I switched from Spam Karma to Kitten’s Spaminator 1.0RC4. From her post:

If you get the current version of Spaminator from the plugins repo and are using a nightly from Jan/05/05 or later, it’ll filter comments, trackbacks and pingbacks.

Wait…did it say I need to be using a nightly? MtDewVirus’ Trackback and Pingback Moderation plugin was testing on the 1.3 alpha code. Fortunately Spam Karma was made and checked for both 1.2 and 1.5-beta versions, and hopefully he’ll release a new version that’s more improved in checking trackbacks. I’d be more comfortable with 1.2, especially with my schedule getting more hectic.

  1. Again? I feel very sorry for you.

Can you do a favor though? Cover your mouth when if you cough around my blog… I don’t want mine catching whatever yours has 😛

  2. Haha! It’s not just me, so at least I’m in good company. Maybe it’s because your syndication (RSS) feeds aren’t working – so spammers don’t know you’re there. I’m not sure. I definitely know I can’t ping you, so my blogroll doesn’t know when you’re updated. 😦
