Leave comments open?

With Referrer Karma and MacManX’s nice word moderation list, I haven’t been getting spam. Should I disable Auto Shutoff Comments and edit the comment status for all posts to “Open” thru phpMyAdmin? Why am I writing this? I just made a comment in a post that was made in the beginning of February about Skype. Who knows if someone else wants to do the same here?

  1. If spam is no longer a problem, you should.

I never turned on Auto shutoff so it hasn’t been an issue for me.

I find that a combination of Referrer Karma, my .htaccess file and the Blacklist have allowed me to turn off comment moderation, and I haven’t had a spam on the site in over 3 weeks now.

I wrote it up and put links to my blacklist and .htaccess file here

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,

    Tom
