Kubuntu 5.10 Breezy Bittorrent needed

I’m struggling downloading Kubuntu 5.10, and I can’t get the Bittorrent file. Can anyone help me out? Update: James pointed out another link from Ubuntu.org, rather than Kubuntu.org. The download is in progress now. Yay!

  1. Thanks James! I don’t know if those were both on different servers, but the ISO just wouldn’t download from the Kubuntu website. Anyway, my desktop at home started the download, so we’ll see how that goes.

  2. Well, I will envy you if you manage to install it tonight. The last time I downloaded Kubuntu, it only took an hour. Now, Firefox is reporting 11 hours. So, I will have to install it tomorrow.

  3. Well, I tried the Kubuntu LiveCD. Sound didn’t seem to work when I tried to play an audio CD. Bah, it seemed nice. I’ll try the Ubuntu LiveCD (when it finishes downloading).

Anyone in the Arcadia/Temple City area want a copy of Kubuntu or Ubuntu? By the time you’re reading this, I’ve probably already downloaded it. 😉

  4. I had a similar issue with Ubuntu and had to lower the DRC setting in the audio mixer. I’ll let you know if I encounter it after installing Kubuntu today.

  5. Yep, that appears to be the solution. When you are in Kubuntu, go to Multimedia/KMix, hit “Switches”, and deactivate DRC. If you really do want Dynamic Range Control, then leave it active and move the slider to the midpoint. The sound volume will be back to normal, but slightly distorted. I recommend that you simply disable DRC and don’t look back. Regardless of this DRC glitch that has plagued both Ubuntu and Kubuntu since the last release, it is nice to be using KDE again. ^_^

Talk to me, Goose
