After a day without calls, Twitter and other text messages, I’m still alive. However, I was at the office and on my computer, so it didn’t mean as much.
Rather than calling my cellphone to check for voicemail messages, Callwave’s website made it simple to check for voicemail.[1. I tried them out when it was beta, but I haven’t gotten cut off. Callwave takes the voicemail and transcribes it. Then, it sends the “gist” of it with a text message. Very cool.] To cut back on text messages, I restricted Twitter SMS updates to “Web-Only.”[2. I don’t follow everyone from my cellphone – just local friends who update infrequently.]
It was rough for contacts who sent me text messages — but didn’t check my blog or social networking sites[3. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter] — because they missed my saying I was without cellphone.
If you forgot your cellphone, how did your day go?
