Monday night, I saw Finch play at The Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood. It was my fifth time seeing them live and they never fail to put on a great show. I’m stoked for them — a fan since the beginning.
Someday, Phantom Scream will open for Finch.
Anyway, I called ahead of time to ask for the camera policy for the evening. I was told that no “professional” cameras would be allowed. Saddened, I prepared to bring a point-and-shoot. But, a friend said it should be fine because they brought theirs to photograph Rooney awhile ago. So, I gave her my camera, she stuck it in her purse and we headed for the door.
We didn’t even get patted down or searched. The day is mine!
So as of now, you can enjoy at least 20 photos from the show! If there are more good ones, I’ll upload them as soon as I can.
Photography notes — The Roxy Theatre is a smallish venue. I took my shots from the back walkway, where the steps are located.
I used my 50mm f/1.8 lens. Aperture Priority, set to f/1.8 and kept the ISO between 400 and 800 (depending on the stage lights). No flash.
Lastly, post-processing consisted of using Matt Kloskowsk’s Classic Split Tone presets for Lightroom for most of the photos.
