Mindful in communicating photography

Ever since I read Jim M. Goldstein’s blog post, Philosophy of Photography: To “Shoot” Or To “Photograph”?, I’ve become more wary of relating photography with the words “shoot” or “shot”.

  • Possibly offensive: “I’m going to a band photoshoot.”
  • Much better: “I’m going to photograph a band.”

Unless I’m 100% sure whoever I’m speaking to won’t correlate “shoot” with weapons, I’ll muster all my brainpower to say photograph.
